The journey began when our client came to us with their vision of a custom dream home after finding the lot in Blue River, CO they wanted to build on.
They wanted to build on a ridge line at the very top of a steep, tree covered, north-facing lot which required a long double switchback drive to get to the building site.
This was our first impression of the lot in Blue River in 2017.

Rough Sketch
We started the design process by spending time with our clients to get to know them so that we could design a house to meet their needs.
Then we drafted a rough sketch of their home.
This house design captured the views of Baldy Mountain, down valley and the Blue River feeding in to Goose Pasture Tarn.

The house stepped up the rocky ridge line like a modern day Machu Picchu. The steep site led to a 3-story plan and the need for an elevator.

The virtual model shows the mountain modern design with dominant shed roofs and clear story windows:

Interior Plans
The interior plans were designed to maximize the breathtaking views and capture the light.

Construction Begins
With the design phase well under way, we worked with our clients to select a general contractor, setting up interviews and site visits. These clients entrusted Decker Custom Homes with the construction of their home. Great choice!
Construction started in the spring of this year with the driveway excavated.

The footers were placed during this site visit in July 2020.
Check back in a few weeks to see how the house is progressing.
