Nick Johnson
Architectural Associate
After emerging from the swamps of Florida with a degree in architecture, Nick headed west to pursue his Master’s degree in Arizona. Concurrent with his studies in emerging materials and technologies, he discovered a passion for the mountains. His explorations of the wilderness inspired his work in the studio as he studied how Nature resolves the difficulties of survival in extreme environments.
After graduation, Nick worked on a variety of projects ranging from custom furniture to commercial and public buildings. He first came to Colorado on foot, hiking south from Canada on the Continental Divide Trail and fell in love with the Rockies.
Nick made the move to Summit County in 2019 excited by the challenges of working in the high altitude environment and the opportunity to share his passion for the mountains through architectural design.

Jon Joy
Architectural Associate
After graduating from University at Buffalo with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Jon’s love of snowboarding took him to Summit County.
While working in the area, he found a passion for architecture and its place in the mountains.
Although not having followed the traditional route of an architecture degree, his work as an Engineer and Draftsman in the architectural fabrication industry prior to Arapahoe Architects opened his eyes to the possibilities of a career in architecture.
Since starting work here Jon is really enjoying the diversity of projects that he is working on.
